The kokeshi doll originates from Northern Japan in the hot spring resort of Tohoku and the craft skills have been handed down through generations.

The craftsmanship of making Kokeshi dolls has branched into two sectors:

1. Traditional kokeshi, the style follows specific characteristics of the region.

2. Creative kokeshi, this allows the craftsman to develop his own style and characteristics.

This doll comes with a black lacquered stand. The kimono is made out of a richly coloured brocaded and the head can be turned to alter the design of the kimono.
