This Guan Yin is made of unglazed porcelain traditionally made in Fujian province in the south of China. Unglazed Blanc de chine requires very pure porcelain, untainted by any flecks of dust or dirt because glaze is not applied before the second firing and therefore it is harder to mask any imperfections. Monochrome white porcelain figurines have been produced in De Hua in the Fujian Province for over 1000 years and were often for religious figurines for sale in China and then export.
The figure measures 20 cm high.
Guan Yin is said to be the goddess of mercy. She is the protector of children and women. She protects the home and the household from misfortune, ill health and brings blessings to children.
Guan Yin should be placed on a space overlooking the main living area of the home.
