This is a richly coloured jewellery box with various shades of intense deep reds to give warmth and depth. The red lacquer is finished with many layers of gloss lacquer, each layer being allowed to dry thoroughly before the next is applied to produce a light and strong luminous finish.

The picture on the lid is made out of cork on a black lacquer background and the picture is set behind glass. The inside of the box is lined with red silky material.
