The Tortoise is one of the four celestial guardians in Feng Shui and thought by some to be more powerful than the dragon. The Tortoise also represents longevity, stability and endurance and is therefore a suitable medium to carry the family lineage into the future. The Tortoise is considered to be protective as well as auspicious and should be placed in the north or the back half of your house, but not in the kitchen.
In the UK, the hard minerals jadite and nephrite are referred to by the jewellers as jade. In China, the character used for jade is applied to a wider group of hard stone minerals and reflects the value acquired by hand-crafted stoner rather than the intrinsic value of the mineral. Because this item is handcrafted out of natural materials there will be slight variations to both presentation and coloration in the stone.
