This HaHa Buddha is made of unglazed porcelain traditionally made in Fujian province in the south of China. Unglazed Blanc de chine requires very pure porcelain, untainted by any flecks of dust or dirt because glaze is not applied before the second firing and therefore it is harder to mask any imperfections. Monochrome white porcelain figurines have been produced in De Hua in the Fujian Province for over 1000 years.
