Traditional Japanese decorative fan.
Made from bamboo and paper the Japanese decorative fan originated in Kyoto in the 7th century. The fans are handcrafted in a ten step process by highly experienced craftsmen.
These types of Fans were often sent by lovers with messages and poems written on the paper as a show of affection.
Some devoted Buddhists have also written important paragraphs of the Sutras onto the fan in the past.
This is a 15cm radius paper fan.
