Tortoises are one of the four celestial guardians in Feng Shui. In the home they are powerful propitious symbols. The tortoises are very important believed by some to be more powerful than the dragon.
The tortoise has water energy, but he also symbolises the universe. His feet swims through the water, his belly can be compared to the earth, his back represents the skies. His shell, from which the bagua has been derived from, mirrors the stars and planets.
The tortoise is protective as well as auspicious. Tortoises should be placed in the north or the back half of your house, but not in the kitchen.
The figure measures approximately 5cm high x 9cm in length.
This tortoise is made from wood with the Chinese zodiac pictures on the shell. The shell can be opened up to show a Feng Shui compass inside with Chinese calligraphy around the diameter.
